The fairies gather in the forest glade To play and frolic under the sunshine. They flutter over oak and over pine, Through patches of light and of the shade. The shimmer of their wings will never fade, Their happiness will outlast all of time. They fly over the church and hear the chime That ends another day that God has made. The night comes on and fairies start their work Of trickling frost upon the sleeping town And sprinkling morning dew upon the grass. Unknown to them, in shadows, goblins lurk And on the fairies deeds of good, they frown Yet they do no harm, so, through town, they pass.

As I walk up the stairs to go to my room I see my mom quilting in her sewing room. I think of how loving she is. She sits—quiet and alone… Yet she is happy. She concentrates on making every stitch as good as she can. The beautiful patterns flow from the pen in her hand onto the book of graph paper before her. Her foot gently presses the pedal as the needle of her sewing machine glides gracefully up and down through the layers of fabric and batting. She puts gladness and joy into each of her stitches. I watch as she carefully works to create a quilt for one of her many friends. She makes every design special— Not
